I was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, and have lived my whole life in this area. I married my wife Lynda on her eighteenth birthday, and we have been together for 58 years. My wife and I raised a son, Jeffrey Lynn Brown, who passed away on January 21, 2018, at age 52.
I wrote my first book in 1989 on an old Commodore 64 running two 5 1/4” floppy drives and a simple Word-Perfect processor. After years of creating more stories, I decided at age 66 to once again start putting them on paper, or should I say on MS Word 2016. Amazon and the Internet have given me the resources to print and distribute my words publicly. I now have fifteen (15) novels on Amazon Kindle for download or paperback.
After writing my first book, "My Second Life," I liked the characters from that novel and used them in my next four books. My first five books contain some mild adult content for the older reader. The next four books are about the main character, Theodore James Steele, a somewhat strange individual. The storyline in these four novels contains a little science fiction as well as my assessment of the world's future. My next four books are about a wealthy man, Richard Erwin Harper, who has chosen a simple life as a private investigator after leaving years of service as a homicide detective. I've also written two other novels that stand alone and are not part of any series. They are A Catastrophic Event and Extraordinary Journey.
At seventy-six years of age, I don’t see myself slowing down. I recently retired from a business owned by a family member as the Facilities Management Director and head of security. The COVID-19 virus helped in my decision to retire. I like writing, and I feel I have a great imagination. I’m not a professional author, nor ever hope to be. With the help of my wife to edit my work, I hope to publish books worth reading.
I write under the pen name “L. Edwin Brown.”
